34th Annual Olympia Match Game Championships

The tournament is limited to a maximum of 84 bowlers. All entrants must be members of the Thurston County USBC and the United States Bowling Congress. Non members may purchase an Associate USBC membership or pay a $5.00 participation fee at the tournament. Entrants must have bowled a minimum of 21 games in a TCUSBC League prior to December 31, 2013 or have bowled a minimum of 36 games in a TCUSBC League during the 2012-13 Season or reside in Thurston County, WA. Any prior participants, currently serving in active military duty are eligible as are all past champions. 

The tournament is USBC certified and consists of 9 games qualifying with 3 games at each of 3 bowling centers. All bowling is scratch and total pins will determine the finalists that advance to the double elimination Match play finals. With 64 or more entries, 32 bowlers will advance to the finals. With fewer than 64 entries, 24 will advance.

The qualifying round will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014 as follows:

Squad 1A - -  12:00 PM  - -  Westside Lanes

Squad 1B - -  12:00 PM  - -  Westside Lanes

Squad 2A - -   3:00 PM   - -  Tumwater Lanes

Squad 2B - -   3:00 PM  - - Aztec Lanes

Squad 3A - -   6:00 PM  - - Aztec Lanes    

Squad 3B  - -   6:00 PM   - - Tumwater Lanes

MATCH PLAY FINALS - - January 26, 2014 - - Westside Lanes @ 9:00 AM

Early Entries must be received or post marked by January 21, 2014. Entries received on the day of the tournament will be assessed a $10.00 Late Entry Fee. Full entry fee must accompany the entry form to guarantee a reservation in the tournament.  Personal or Business checks will not be accepted after the entry closing date without prior approval of Tournament Director.  If more than 84 entries are received, a waiting list will be established on a first received and paid in full basis.  No fees will be refunded after January 23, 2014.

Spaghetti Feed - November 2, 2013

Thurston County will hold its annual spaghetti dinner on Saturday, November 2, 2013 beginning at 3:00pm. 

The festivities will be held at the Columbian Hall in Lacey. In addition to great food and fun, a silent auction will be held - items such as homemade deserts, crochet afghans, holiday wreath from Hiawatha Evergreens and more will be offered.

Tickets at $10 each and may be purchased at Aztec, Tumwater, or Westside Lanes. Benefits from the spaghetti dinner will benefit the Thurston County Youth Bowling Scholarship funds.

TCUSBC loses long time member and friend

Today, the bowling community lost a long time friend - Betty Webley. Ms. Webley will be sorely missed by her friends both in the bowling community and her travel mates.

Her service will be held Saturday, September 21 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church in Chehalis. The address is 1866 S Market Boulevard.

TCUSBC – Job Opening 
Association Manager Closing Date: October 1, 2013

The Thurston County USBCA is seeking a highly organized, detailed oriented, energetic person to fill the position of Association Manager for the Thurston County USBC Association. The mission of the Thurston County USBC Association is to provide programs and services to support its membership, while encouraging participation and promoting the sport of bowling. The Association serves all men, women, and youth bowling in certified leagues and tournaments in the jurisdictional area defined as within the boundaries of Thurston County, Washington. Term: The Association Manager is appointed for a three (3) year term and is subject to an annual performance review.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Association Manager include, but are not limited to:

• Process membership and awards, remitting to USBC 
• Provide support and training to league secretaries 
• Maintain Association business, meeting, and financial records 
• Oversee the financial aspects of the Association 
• Maintain averages and yearbooks 
• Coordinate annual city tournaments 
• Oversee public relations campaigns 
• Oversee transfer information to USBC
• Coordinate and support Board functions and projects 
• Implement and monitor directives of the Board to meet USBC directives and performance standards and Association policies and plans 
• Oversee membership recruitment
